The Multicultural Resource Center was established in 1998 as a place for students to convene and explore issues of diversity and inclusion within the Capital Community and beyond. The MRC maintains a wide variety of texts, magazines and videos you can use for class projects or just personal enjoyment.
You'll be able to incorporate several other programs and initiatives geared toward promoting critical thinking & management skills within a diverse setting, including the Post-Graduation Professional Development Series and Leadership Lab. These programs are structured to provide additional support and resources for students of color interested in attending professional and/or graduate school, acquiring a summer internship, or initiating a successful job search.C.U.R.V.E. (Collectively Understanding, Respecting and Valuing differences through Education) is a student organization that meets regularly in the MRC. We feel that C.U.R.V.E. provides multiple opportunities for open discussion about issues of diversity in a safe and welcoming environment.
The Multicultural Resource Center is open for a limited number of hours throughout the week. The hours during which it will be staffed are posted on the door of the center each semester. For more information concerning hours of operation, please contact Amber Hampton, the MRC Student Coordinator, at 614-236-6452 or ahampton@capital.edu.The MRC is available during unscheduled hours on weekdays and evenings to you and student organizations for use as a meeting room and/or study area. You can check out the key by visiting the receptionist on the first floor of Kerns during standard office hours – and don’t forget to bring your Capital ID card. For additional information about the Multicultural Resource Center or any of its initiatives, please call 614- 236-6711.
