Transfer Student Admission
  • About Transfer Credits

    • We award college credit for all courses successfully completed with a C- or above at a regionally accredited college or university, except for developmental level courses.
    • The department chair/academic adviser for the program in which you enroll must approve the acceptance of these credits toward a degree program.
    • To receive a major from Capital University you must complete 12 semester hours in the major in residence at Capital University. No student may be awarded a major by a department or college unless core requirements of the college in which that major is located are met.

    The Process

Transferring to Capital is a smooth process when you follow these steps:

Step 1: Review the admission requirements for transfer students.

Step 2: Apply online for admission to Capital.
Apply by May 1 to be considered for all possible transfer scholarships, including our Transfer Fellowship Full Tuition Scholarship.
Priority deadline to apply is August 1 for fall or December 1 for spring. Nursing students, you'll need to apply by March.

Step 3: Wait for your acceptance.
We'll let you know what we decide two weeks after we get your application.

Step 4: Understand your transfer credits.
Once you’re accepted, your college transcript will be reviewed for transfer course equivalency. You will receive a copy of the degree audit once the courses have been reviewed.

Step 5: Meet with your adviser.
A faculty adviser will determine how the courses apply to the degree, so you should contact the Admission Office to schedule a meeting with a faculty adviser to find out how your major classes transfer and how long it will take to complete your degree.
