  • MERIT AWARDS FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS

    TRANSFER FELLOWSHIP 
    Full-tuition

    Competitive scholarship (by invitation only) awarded to selected transfer students seeking their first undergraduate degree who have earned a minimum of 15 semester or 22 quarter hours of transferrable college course work after graduating from high school. Applicants who apply to Capital by June 15 and have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average from all colleges are invited for this on-campus interview and essay. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 3.00 or higher and you live in campus housing. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    TRANSFER PHI THETA KAPPA GRANT
    Half-tuition

    Grant awarded to transfer students seeking their first undergraduate degree who are current members of Phi Theta Kappa. Students must be a full-time undergraduate traditional student who has completed a minimum of 15 semester or 22 quarter hours of transferrable college credit that was completed after graduating from high school. Students should identify themselves as a Phi Theta Kappa member on the admission application or should notify the Admission Office.

    PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
    $7,000 - $15,000  

    Award based on academic performance, student profile and housing status given to students seeking their first undergraduate degree. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time traditional undergraduate student, your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher and you maintain your enrollment, intended academic plan and housing status. Music students are not eligible for this award. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree. This award may be reevaluated for possible adjustment or replaced with a Capital endowed scholarship. 

    MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
    $7,000 - $16,500

    Awarded to traditional undergraduate full-time Conservatory of Music majors on the basis of academic record and musical performance with the primary instrument. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher and you stay within your intended academic plan. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    COMPOSITION SCHOLARSHIP
    Up to $3,500

    Awarded based on composition portfolio and evaluation.

    MUSIC GRANT
    $500 - $1,000

    Grant available to traditional undergraduate full-time Conservatory of Music majors who display an exceptional level of performance with the primary instrument. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher and you stay within your intended academic plan. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    REV. RUFUS TARRANT GRANT 
    $2,000

    Grant awarded to multicultural students who identify themselves on the admission application. This tuition-based award may be renewed if you are enrolled as a full-time student, and your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    ALUMNI AWARD
    $1,000

    Award given to students who identify a relative who graduated from Capital on the admission application. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student and your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    DISCOVER CAPITAL AWARD
    $1,000

    Award given to students who indicate they live outside of Ohio on the admission application. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student, your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher and your permanent address is outside of Ohio. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    LUTHERAN HERITAGE GRANT
    $1,000

    Awarded to entering traditional undergraduate students seeking their first undergraduate degree who are members of Lutheran congregations who identify themselves on the admission application. This tuition-based award is renewable if you are enrolled as a full-time student and your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher. Awards are made for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    PARTNERS IN EDUCATION 
    Matching funds up to $500

    Awards are made to full-time traditional undergraduate students seeking their first undergraduate degree who are members of participating Lutheran congregations. Capital University matches funds contributed by the congregations up to the annual maximum of $500. You must contact your pastor each year to identify your congregation’s level of participation. This award is not applied to a student’s account until the congregation's donation is received. Awards are matched for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years).

    CHILDREN OF PASTORS 
    Half-tuition

    Awarded to entering traditional undergraduate dependent students seeking their first undergraduate degree whose custodial parent is an active, registered Lutheran clergy person. This award is equal to half the price of tuition and is renewable for eight fall and spring semesters (four years) for as long as you remain full time and earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and your parent remains an active, rostered Lutheran clergy person.

    SIBLING DISCOUNT
    $750

    Discount awarded to each traditional undergraduate dependent full-time student whose brother or sister is also a full-time traditional undergraduate at Capital. The amount shown on the award will be credited to your student account by the Finance Office on a semester-by-semester basis. This tuition-based award is renewable if your cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher. It is available for a maximum of eight fall and spring semesters (four years) to students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

    ROTC
    Full-tuition with room and board

    Capital students can earn many different types and levels of ROTC scholarships. All are based on merit, leadership potential and physical aptitude. You can apply as a senior in high school or as a freshman or sophomore in college. Awards are based upon standard occupancy rates. Learn more on the Capital University ROTC website.

    NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
    Room and board awards

    Capital University will award the following to National Merit Scholarship students who attend Capital full-time and live on campus. Both awards are based upon standard occupancy rates. Contact the admission office at 614-236-6101 for details.
