Verification

The verification process is required by the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Schools are required to collect and maintain specific documentation on selected FAFSA records before disbursing federal funds.

Students who are selected by ED for verification must submit the requested documents in order to receive their financial aid. If you are selected for verification, you will be notified by the Financial Aid Office both by paper and electronically. Please read through the communication carefully as we will explain what documents must be submitted. You will not be eligible to receive your aid until all requested documentation has been submitted and reviewed.

Special Circumstances

ED understands that a family's circumstances can change after filing their FAFSA and that these changes may affect a family's ability to pay educational costs. Financial aid administrators use "Professional Judgment" to evaluate a family's special circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Additional documentation is required to support any changes made to a student's financial aid eligibility.
