The Institute of Medicine has issued a call to double the population of nurses with doctorates to address current and projected shortages in doctoral-prepared nurses to assume leadership, practice and faculty roles.
Different from most DNP programs in Ohio and the U.S., which focus on advanced clinical practice, Capital’s Executive Leadership DNP targets the growing demand for nurses practicing as executives and leaders. Capital’s DNP delivers the advanced leadership skills nurses need to manage in an environment of health care change and challenge, including health policy design of innovative care settings, data and quality improvement science and reimbursement models.
Our curriculum includes three executive leadership courses, three immersion experiences, a five-part practicum from conception to implementation and dissemination, and ethics. Faculty from Capital’s distinguished and accredited Nursing, MBA and Law School programs will teach the courses of our online Executive Leadership DNP through part- or full-time study, granting students access to reputation, expertise and networks.

In a cohort of no more than 15 students to ensure full faculty attention and customized learning, you’ll learn in a user-friendly online environment with dedicated technology and student support for learners. This model is inclusive, supportive and can be completed in two years of full-time study.
Earn your DNP online and hone your executive leadership skills in Columbus, a bustling capital city that’s home to six magnet hospitals, three of which are situated in a partnering Academic Health Center. Students will travel to Capital’s Columbus campus three times during the program to complete three on-campus immersion experiences. Guided by a faculty mentor, these experiences will transcend online learning to support students through the full gamut of project planning and implementation – from selection of a project topic relevant to the nurse’s executive leadership role to research, proposal writing, execution, evaluation, and presentation and dissemination of findings.
