Equipment Loans
The IT Equipment Loan Program provides short-term loans of a limited supply of laptops, digital cameras, DV cameras and other audio/visual equipment to support academic needs for current faculty, staff and students. Equipment is loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who is eligible to check out equipment?
All current Capital University faculty, staff and students are eligible to check out majority of equipment in inventory, however, some equipment are on reserve for faculty and staff only.
What type of equipment is available for checkout?
You may contact the IT Service Desk for questions or inquiries related to any equipment listed. We currently have the following available for loan:
- Video Projectors
- Laptops
- Digital Cameras
- Portable Miniature Projectors
- Portable Projector Screen
- Tripods
- Wireless/Handheld Mic Kits
How long can I keep the equipment?
Equipment can be checked out for a maximum of three (3) days and must be returned to IT by the agreed-upon time and date so it can be checked out by other people who need it.
What happens if I am late returning equipment?
Faculty, staff and students who return equipment late may lose their borrowing privileges for up to two semesters depending on the circumstance. A late fee may be assessed if equipment is not returned to IT within seven business days. All charges will be billed and posted directly to student accounts and/or departmental accounts. It is the responsibility of faculty, staff and students to notify IT if equipment will be late.
What happens if the equipment I borrowed is lost, damaged or stolen while in my possession?
You will be required to pay for equipment that has been lost, damaged or stolen. Fees will vary depending on the make and model of the equipment. Payments can be made directly to the Finance Office or will be billed directly to student accounts/departmental accounts. Borrowing rights will be suspended until all fees are paid and may remain suspended for up to two semesters depending on the circumstance.
