4D Faith | Discover, Discern, Develop, Decide
Sustain the Flame, a summer seminary sampler program, will help high school students (like you) think about Christian vocation and how you choose to live your faith out in a church or secular occupation. This peer-to-peer experience will help you discover, discern and develop your God-given gifts, and equip you to decide where God is calling you next. Each participant will be paired with a current Capital University or Trinity Lutheran Seminary student mentor. Together, you will explore three basic components of theological education: learning, serving the people of God in various contexts, and further developing spirituality.During the week on campus, you will have a variety of experiences, including: worship, service activities, classes, faith coaching and community immersion. REGISTER HEREWatch for information about SPARK and IGNITE, additional fun and meaningful opportunities for youth groups to explore their faith through Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary!

What is the Summer Sampler?
During the week, you will have a variety of experiences including:
How old do I have to be to participate in Sampler?
You can apply for Sampler during your freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. Even if you’ve just graduated high school, you are still eligible for Sampler.
Where do the Samplarians live?
Trinity Lutheran Seminary has provided the Summer Seminary Sampler with rooms in student housing.
Can I attend the Summer Seminary Sampler more than one year?
Yes - if you’ve been a participant after the 2014 summer. Each session has enough variation so Samplarians can apply for a different session each year during high school.
What if I have special dietary needs?
We work hard to meet each person’s dietary restrictions. If you do have a strict diet you adhere to for medical reasons, please note this on your paperwork packet so our staff are knowledgeable!
