The Trinity Endowed Chair in Mission and Ministry
The Trinity Endowed Chair in Mission and Ministry was established through the generosity of alumni and friends of Trinity Lutheran Seminary to support the advancement of the seminary’s mission to form leaders for Christ’s church at work in the world with a particular focus on the formation of future church leaders.
The successful candidate for the Trinity Endowed Chair in Mission and Ministry will be a full-time, tenure-track or tenured, current or newly appointed Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University faculty member with demonstrated expertise in leadership formation. The chair holder will have demonstrated or shown potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship and service to the University and their discipline. The individual will, on occasion, serve as an ambassador of Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University in the spiritual and professional community, offer public lectures and talks, and participate in community service activities related to the mission of the seminary and the university. Based upon the available proceeds of the endowment, the holder may propose an annual budget to foster the purposes of the endowed chair. The appointee may hold the chair for a six-year term, subject to annual review and reappointment, and may be eligible for subsequent reappointment. The holder will submit a budget and an annual report of activity to the provost, dean of the seminary, and the Mission and Ministry Endowed Chair Committee.
The Trinity Endowed Chair in Mission and Ministry will be appointed by the president and officially named by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the provost. The Mission and Ministry Endowed Chair Committee, which will include the dean of Trinity Lutheran Seminary or their designee, all tenured faculty of Trinity Lutheran Seminary, a tenured faculty member from another department, and a representative from the provost’s office, will review nominations for the position and recommend to the provost one or more candidates for appointment.
