    What are Entrance Interviews?
    Entrance counseling sessions are required for all Federal Direct loan recipients. Student loans, like any other bank loan, must be repaid.
    Entrance counseling shows you how to manage your student loans, both during and after college. After completing entrance counseling, you will be required to sign a promissory note.

    How Do I Get an Interview?
    You can complete entrance counseling for Federal Direct Loans online, but your loan cannot be disbursed to you or Capital until you sign a promissory note.
    Federal Nursing Loan recipients must complete a promissory note one time and annual accept the loan. This step will be completed online through University Accounting Services, our third-party loan servicer. Borrowers will receive e-mail notification once the loan is ready to be accepted.

    What are Promissory Notes?
    Promissory notes are your official promise to repay your loans. They are legal documents that describe your rights and obligations when you accept a federal loan.

    Promissory notes vary depending on the type of loan you receive.

    Federal Direct Loan Promissory Notes

    • Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loan recipients must sign a Master Promissory Note online.
    • Only one Master Promissory Note (MPN) is required regardless of the number of Federal Direct Loans you receive during the 10 year period that the MPN is in effect.
    All federal loans require promissory notes, including PLUS Loans for parents and Nursing Loans
    • PLUS Loan borrowers will complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically.
    • Nursing Loan borrowers will complete a Master Promissory Note and Self-Certification Form with University Accounting Services. This loan must also be accepted annually.
