In recognition of academic excellence among Capital University’s faculty, six professors were honored in September as new holders of endowed chairs and professorships.
The holders of these distinguished positions have a special responsibility to the benefactors to realize the aspirations of their gift and to the University to strengthen academic programs and student experience by demonstrating exemplary scholarship, teaching and mentorship.
“The holders of these endowed positions have demonstrated through their past efforts and future plans a commitment to their own scholarship, undergraduate research, community engagement, and service to their disciplines,” says Dr. Jody Fournier, provost and vice president of Learning. “Capital University has immense gratitude for the alumni and friends of the university who have made these endowed funds available. Our students and our broader community will be the direct beneficiaries of these gifts.”
The honorees were selected after review of their past contributions to their discipline, their department, and the university. In addition, each candidate’s proposal was evaluated based on the extent to which their proposed activities connected to the University’s and the donor’s mission, vision and values. Endowed faculty are expected to use the benefits of the endowment to further their scholarship, professional development, and student learning.
