In July 2020, Dr. Lynda Hasseler, and the Conservatory of Music’s choral department initiated a project to support the creation of a new choral work by commissioning poet, Samiya Bashir, and composer Joel Thompson. Together they created Dark Matters, a seven-minute work for choir and piano. We invite you to hear the world premiere of this challenging, complex, and meaningful work on April 29, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in Mees Hall. You don’t want to miss this moment. The concert, which will also feature a performance by guest artist, Karen Slack is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
