    • Introducing Capital Stories

CS inset We all have stories to tell. And now we have a new way to tell them.

We’re excited to introduce “Capital Stories,” an online journal for the entire CapFam that allows us to engage with each other and connect to the world around us.

Through dynamic content created by students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends, Capital Stories will:

      • Highlight the best of who we by sharing diverse experiences and perspectives.
      • Showcase powerful ideas that exemplify the University’s mission of transforming lives for a brighter world.
      • Enable us to keep in touch with one another by sharing the values of Capital University, generating excitement around the Power of Purple, and promoting pride in the Capital Family.
      • Express the impact of Capital – past, present and future – through a variety of voices and media.
Explore the first set of stories. Learn what Brad Conrad sees as quintessential qualities to teachers who thrive. Read about Dr. Kevin Griffith’s Lego project. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to host an NCAA basketball tournament. Catch up on the latest CapChat episode. Uncover the story behind a student-led documentary featuring a beloved librarian. And learn what’s inside the “Law School Playbook.”

Inspired? Have your own compelling story to tell? Want to be a voice in Capital’s collective voice?

If so, we encourage you to submit ideas for consideration.

Visit www.capital.edu/stories, or access it on the University’s homepage through the icon in the left-hand navigation bar. At the bottom of page, you’ll find a button that invites you to share a story idea with the content team.

Your Capital story can be reflective, creative, memory-evoking, funny, poetic or persuasive. But it doesn’t have to be long. If accepted for publication, 500 words – give or take a hundred – would be perfect.

And while we want to read your words, working in a digital tool allows us to broaden the ways in which we are able to creatively share our stories. Maybe there are no words at all; maybe it’s a video, a powerful photo or a series of photos that best tell your Capital story.

And, if your story is published, we will give credit where credit is due by including your byline.

Whether you become a content contributor or just a content consumer, we hope Capital Stories connects you to the University in informative, fun and thought-provoking ways. And we hope you share it with others through your own social media platforms.
