Something about the law has always intrigued you – the cases and people, the courts and justice, the complexities and strategies, or the challenges and successes. This intrigue is now driving you to prepare for the time-honored, yet cutting-edge paralegal profession.
The Paralegal Program is the perfect place to start realizing more educationally and professionally. Our ABA-approved, post-baccalaureate program provides you with a quality paralegal education. The curriculum balances instruction in the fundamental skills of legal theory and analysis with practical skills like research and writing, case management, and technology. We also focus on your professional development by providing networking and learning opportunities throughout the program.
The Paralegal Program is offered for paralegal education. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree as a pre-requisite for admission into the program.
Today’s legal culture demands excellence and the ability to successfully keep up with change. Laws, procedures, technology, client demands, law firm demands, corporate requirements, and governmental oversights – just to name a few – constantly are changing. With these changes, the paralegal continues serving as a crucial member of the legal team. At Capital, we equip our students with the foundational and practical skills paralegals need to adapt to these changes and to provide the best services to clients in a family business or Fortune 500 company, state or federal agency, or a large or small law firm.
The Paralegal Program is uniquely situated at Capital University Law School – a fact that distinguishes us from most other ABA-approval paralegal programs. What does this mean to you? It means opportunities: To network with the legal community inside and outside the classroom, and to participate in programs, seminars, hearings, and other events provided by the Law School community. It provides you with access to a fully-serviced Law Library and electronic research databases. And it gives you professional development opportunities designed specifically for someone entering the legal profession.
The program provides a rigorous curriculum requiring critical thinking and application in practical assignments and in-class discussions. We teach the fundamentals – contracts, torts, real property, business organizations, ethics, and probate. And we teach the practical – legal research and writing, civil litigation, eDiscovery, and legal technology. The faculty consists of attorneys, paralegals, and legal professionals from the Columbus community. They are the experts.
The Paralegal Program meets the educational and professional needs of a diverse population of students with flexible program options.
