Description
This position requires an individual(s) who is responsible for writing and editing
sport recaps, releases, and announcements for athletics.capital.edu. Additionally, this individual will assist in the publication of social media posts from the Capital Athletics accounts. This position will also offer the opportunity for the individual to learn the “admin” side of athletics.capital.edu, while working on website development and maintenance. Other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate would be expected to contribute to 2-5 recaps or releases per
week, especially during the busiest months of the season (i.e. September, March, April). This candidate would be expected to produce one “feature story” for athletics.capital.edu that involves telling the story of one of Capital’s coaches or student-athletes. This candidate would also be expected to someone who desires to work in the communications, sports, or public relations field after college.
Qualifications
Be pursuing a degree in the area of communications, Sports Management, Business, Film and Media Production, Public Relations, Emerging Media, or a related field. Be comfortable with writing and interviewing coaches and student-athletes. Be familiar with Google Drive. Any experience working with web design would be welcome.
Comments
The candidate for this position can receive credit hours toward their degree. Additionally, if the selected candidate is Federal Work Study eligible, the candidate could earn FWS money. **Note: students without FWS will not be eligible for pay in this role**
