In an effort to help our students, faculty and staff better protect themselves, we'd like to share some resources that help describe some of these responsibilities our users have when using the various tools available to them at the university.
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
Capital University's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) applies to all users and all uses of resources, whether on-campus or from remote locations. Additional policies may apply to specific computers, computer systems, networks provided or operated by specific units of the University or users within specific academic units.

ELECTRONIC COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT POLICY
The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) enacted in 2008, placed new obligations and responsibilities on Colleges and Universities in the area of copyright protection. Copyright infringement occurs when intellectual property is used without authorization from the owner. Capital University is legally required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act to take action against such activities when we receive a notice of violation for electronic copyright infringement.

PRIVACY POLICY
Personal information that you provide via e-mail or through other online means will be used only for specifically stated purposes or as necessary to serve your needs, such as responding to an inquiry or request for information. This may involve redirecting your inquiry or comment to another person or department in the university to respond appropriately.
Your information will not be sold or otherwise provided to third parties without your consent except as may be legally required as specified below.

FERPA POLICY
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students the following rights with respect to their education records: the right to inspect and review, the right to request amendment, the right to consent to certain disclosures, the right to file a complaint.

IDENTITY THEFT POLICY (RED FLAG)
The risk to the University, its employees and students from data loss and identity theft is of significant concern to the University and can be reduced only through the combined efforts of every employee and contractor. Review the FACTA Red Flag Alerts and Warning Signs and incorporate this awareness into your daily work ethics.
