Biography

Professor Kelly Mihocik is an experienced appellate practitioner. She is a 2004 graduate of Capital University Law School and began her legal career clerking for a United States Magistrate Judge, which was followed by a clerkship with the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She also worked for the Sixth Circuit as a Staff Attorney. After clerking, Professor Mihocik spent several years working as an Assistant State Public Defender, focusing almost exclusively on appellate work. In this position, she successfully advocated for the immediate release of an individual from prison, who was serving life without the possibility of parole. Professor Mihocik also has extensive civil experience, having worked at a prestigious international law firm for several years. Professor Mihocik has authored several articles related to insurance and reinsurance litigation, including co-authoring the International Risk Management, Inc.’s update on the top 50 reinsurance cases of all time.
