Maddie Murphy Tracks Antibiotic Resistance in an Unlikely Place

Capital University biology student Maddie Murphy spent her summer as a 2026 Summer Scholar studying salamanders from Central Ohio, looking for patterns of antibiotic resistance in the wild. Working with faculty mentor John Mersfelder, she explored how a growing public health challenge shows up outside the clinic and what it could mean for the field.
