When Losing Streaks Take Over: Capital Student Explores the Science of "Tilt"

Every gamer knows the feeling: one bad match snowballs into five. Math, computer science and physics major Jey Chhun set out to measure that phenomenon, known as "tilt," analyzing how losing streaks affect player performance in competitive gaming.

Working under the mentorship of Leigh Johnson, Ph.D., associate professor of mathematics, computer science and physics, Chhun combined data analysis with game theory to bring empirical rigor to a question every player has felt but few have quantified.
