Meet President Tice
Dr. Jared R. Tice serves as the 18th president of Capital University, Ohio’s oldest university in Central Ohio. Since becoming president in 2025, he has led the university through a period of renewed momentum focused on academic excellence, student success, community engagement, and strategic growth.
During his first year, Dr. Tice led the development and launch of Capital Rising: Rooted in Legacy. Thriving into our Third Century. The university’s five-year strategic plan was created through a yearlong collaborative process involving faculty, staff, students, trustees, alumni, and community partners. Organized around five strategic pillars — Purpose, People, Pursuits, Place, and Resources — the plan charts Capital’s course through its bicentennial in 2030 and beyond.
Under his leadership, Capital has earned recognition as a 2026–27 College of Distinction, while enrollment and residential living continue to grow across undergraduate, graduate, law, and seminary programs. The university is also advancing a comprehensive campus master plan, strengthening partnerships with the City of Bexley, and conducting an economic impact study to demonstrate Capital’s role as a leading educational and economic anchor in Central Ohio.
A recognized voice on the future of higher education, Dr. Tice frequently speaks about workforce development, artificial intelligence, enrollment trends, ethical leadership, strategic planning, and the evolving role of colleges and universities. He believes higher education must prepare graduates not only with technical knowledge, but with the communication, critical thinking, adaptability, and ethical decision-making skills that employers increasingly value.
