COLUMBUS, OH — Capital University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll, recognizing institutions that demonstrate excellence in creating and supporting pathways for community college transfer students to earn bachelor’s degrees.
The Transfer Honor Roll evaluates how well institutions support transfer students from admission through graduation. Colleges are assessed across five dimensions shown to influence transfer success: transfer student success outcomes; credit mobility and degree applicability; financial support for transfer students; recruitment and admissions practices; and campus engagement and support for transfer students.
“Transferring colleges is a big step,” said Capital University President Jared R. Tice, Ed.D. “Capital recognizes each student’s unique journey and is committed to helping them continue their academic pursuits in a supportive environment that values their experiences. Our faculty and staff find the opportunities, resources, and community to help transfer students continue their academic path with confidence.”
Tice said Capital’s faculty and staff work together to make the transfer experience clear, personal, and intentional - helping students apply their prior credits, connect quickly to academic and campus life, and take advantage of small classes, individualized advising, experiential learning, and the professional opportunities available throughout Columbus and beyond.
The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll has become a national benchmark for transfer excellence. In 2026, 275 four-year colleges and universities were selected as “transfer friendly.”
“This recognition is about much more than transfer agreements," said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. "Successful transfer happens when institutions intentionally design policies, practices, and campus cultures that help students thrive after they arrive. These colleges have demonstrated that transfer student success is not accidental. It is a strategic priority.”
