Biography

As professor of Piano and Head of the keyboard area, Dr. Tianshu Wang won the prestigious Praestantia Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2011, which is the University's highest honor, and in 2017, she was the recipient of the Faculty Scholarship Award. She has been featured in a cover story of the Capital Magazine, “Crossing the Musical Boarders”. She also is a Steinway Artist, a privilege extended to the world’s most distinguished pianists. Dr. Wang’s studio includes a number of outstanding pianists who are winners in competitions at all levels. An active performer, Wang has given recitals in the world’s most famous concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Royal Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her performances were seen on China’s National TV and in many cities in this country and throughout Asia. She was acclaimed by the press as a “superbly talented pianist” who plays with “prodigious technique and eloquent phrasing”. In addition to teaching at the Capital Conservatory of Music, Dr. Wang is a professor of Euro Arts Academy based in Berlin, Germany, where she teaches in the summer and gives online masterclasses year round. From 2002 to 2016, she has been the Dean of Piano School at Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China. Prior to Capital, she served on the piano faculty of Sweet Briar College in Virginia.

Respected as a distinguished artist and teacher in her native China, she was featured in a cover story of the country’s most prestigious piano magazine, Piano Artistry.
