Biography

Robert J. Weiler met his wife Missy while both were attending the University of Arizona, where he graduated with honors. In 1957 he joined The Robert Weiler Company, founded by his father. Dr. Weiler, who prefers to be called Bob, received a Masters Degree in Real Estate from The Ohio State University in 1964 and a Doctorate Degree in Finance in 1968. In 1983, Bob was awarded a Juris Doctorate Degree from Capital University Law School and was admitted to the Ohio Bar that year. He has served on the faculty of The Ohio State University and Franklin University, and continues to teach at Capital University Law and Graduate School and the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Active in the Columbus community, Bob has served as the President of the Columbus Board of Education. He is a post president of the Columbus Board of Realtors and the Ohio Chapter of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. He currently serves on the boards of COTA, Columbus Metropolitan YMCA, Columbus Urban League, the Affordable Housing Trust and the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing. He has been a long time volunteer and campaign chair of the United Way, and continues to be actively involved with I Know I Can, for which he was a past president and founding member. Bob and Missy have also been long time breeders of Labradors for Pilot Dogs. In 2005, Bob was awarded the Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year Award for all he has done for the community. Bob and Missy have four children and fourteen grandchildren, all of whom are the love of his life. Bob continues with The Robert Weiler Company, serving as Chairman of the Board. He works and plays along side his son, Skip, who is president of the company.
