Monday, January 27, 2026

1 p.m. - Capital University plans to return to in-person operations tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28.

Please dress appropriately for cold temperatures and travel safely. Students or employees commuting from more remote locations where roads may not yet be passable should contact their professors or supervisors to make appropriate accommodations. 

The University will continue to monitor weather and travel conditions and will share updates if circumstances change. 

We want to thank our Facilities Management crews for their efforts to make the Bexley and Law School campuses accessible for our students, employees and guests, as well as Dining Services and other essential personnel.

Monday, January 26, 2026

2:20 p.m. - Capital University is moving to remote/virtual learning and offices for Tuesday, Jan. 27, due to hazardous travel conditions following significant snowfall in Central Ohio.

Faculty
If you teach tomorrow, please communicate directly with students regarding virtual class access, instructional materials, and expectations using established platforms such as email or Canvas. If for some reason you are unable to teach virtually tomorrow, please communicate any make-up class plans to your students at your earliest opportunity. 

Students
Watch for communications from your professors about virtual classes and assignments. Please reach out to them if you have questions, concerns, or will be unable to connect virtually.

Staff
Supervisors should communicate expectations with their staff. Employees are expected to work from home if they are able to. Essential personnel are expected to report as required.

Campus Operations
Dining services will be available in the Main Dining Room and, depending upon staffing, Capital Grounds and One Main Cafe also may be open. The 24-hour area of Blackmore Library will be open. 

Safety and Updates
In the event of an emergency, contact Capital University Public Safety at 614-236-6666. Use caution when traveling and limit time outdoors due to snow and cold temperatures. Continue to monitor email and Cap Alerts for updates regarding campus operations.

Thank you for your understanding and willingness to pivot to virtual learning. We hope to be able to resume normal campus operations on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Sunday, January 25, 2026

1:30 p.m. - Due to a Level 3 snow emergency affecting all of Central Ohio, Capital University will be closed today, Sunday, Jan. 25. Classes and activities are cancelled and offices are closed for Monday, Jan. 26, on the Bexley campus. The Law School will hold classes virtually on Monday.

Essential personnel should report as required.

  • Dining services will operate until 6:30 pm tonight and 7 am - 8 pm  on Monday with all meals served in the Main Dining Room.
  • Capital Grounds and One Main Cafe will be closed.
  • The 24-hour space in Blackmore Library will be available.

Please utilize caution and limit your time outdoors because of the snow and cold temperatures. In case of an emergency,  contact Public Safety at 614-236-6666.
