COLUMBUS, Ohio — Capital University is celebrating a surge in enrollment this fall, with the combined number of first-time-in-college and undergraduate transfer students rising 27 percent over last year’s entering class. The momentum reflects both the strength of Capital’s academic programs and its growing appeal as a residential and urban university rooted in the opportunities of Columbus. Nearly 550 new undergraduates enrolled this fall compared to less than 440 in 2024.
In total, more than 850 new students across undergraduate, graduate, seminary, and law programs joined Capital this fall – the most since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of first-year students choosing to live on the Bexley campus also rose significantly, underscoring the appeal of Capital’s immersive, residential experience.
Overall, more than 2,300 students are enrolled at Capital University this fall, representing a 2.5 percent increase from last year. Students are pursuing degrees across various undergraduate majors, graduate programs, and at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Capital University Law School.
“We are pleased to see growth across most student populations,” said Stephanie Sanders, interim vice president of Strategic Enrollment Management and Marketing. “Students and families are increasingly recognizing the value of attending Capital University, an institution with a long tradition of preparing graduates for meaningful careers and advanced study. Our enrollment momentum also reflects our commitment to offering programs that meet today’s opportunities, including an undergraduate degree in sport business, innovative graduate programs in social work, and a refreshed MBA program that can be completed in as little as one year.”
“Our growth this year reflects more than strong enrollment. It reflects Capital’s growing reputation and renewed momentum,” said Jared R. Tice, president of Capital University. “From our home in Bexley, deeply connected to the opportunities of Columbus, students are experiencing Capital’s signature learning experience in powerful new ways. Families are telling us our brand message, ‘Limitless You,’ is resonating because it speaks to who we are: a university that is innovative, personal, and preparing graduates to thrive in both career and community.”
Applications are open for spring and fall 2026 for undergraduate and graduate students.
