Aligning Education with High-Demand Careers

By adopting a data-driven approach and actively collaborating with industry, Capital aligns its academic programs with market demand, ensuring its graduates are well-prepared for successful and rewarding careers. To meet student interest and job-market needs, the University is launching two new programs: the Master of Social Work and the Bachelor of Arts in Sport Business.

Social Work

Committed to social change for all, Capital will have one of the few programs in Ohio to offer a graduate degree in Advanced Social Work Practice, which allows graduates to practice in any field of social work.

Taught in a hybrid format of evening and Saturday classes with field experiences and opportunities for research and professional development, Capital’s new MSW program offers a two-year program for students who have a bachelor’s degree in a field outside social work or a one-year program for those who already have a bachelor’s degree in social work.

“Social work is a marketable degree, and our MSW program provides a rich curriculum in advanced practice, including field education to garner expertise in their chosen area of practice,” said Renda Ross, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of Capital University’s Social Work program. “We provide research and professional development opportunities that enable them to network and navigate career choices.”

Sport Business

Capital’s newest undergraduate degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Sport Business, equips students with the essential business acumen and industry-specific expertise needed to thrive in the dynamic world of sports.

Core business principles, combined with hands-on experiential learning, allow students to gain in-depth knowledge in sport marketing, finance, event and stadium operations management, and law, preparing them for careers in professional sports, collegiate or high school athletics, sport governing bodies, and corporate sport sponsorship.

“The launch of the B.A. in Sport Business at Capital University represents a bold step toward preparing students for success in the $600 billion global sport industry,” said Dr. Justin Kozubal, associate professor and program chair. “With faculty who bring decades of professional experience, we provide students with unparalleled opportunities for hands-on learning, helping them build the skills, confidence, and insight needed to stand out in this dynamic and fast-paced field.”
