Alumni Award Winners

Joy Bledsoe Bivens ’99 plays a crucial role in supporting Franklin County’s largest agency and social safety net as deputy county administrator for Health & Human Services. She serves as vice chair of the National Association of Counties Human Services and Education subcommittee and, in 2020, testified on child poverty strategies at a House Ways and Means subcommittee hearing. She was a 2022 YWCA of Central Ohio Woman of Achievement.

Chris McManus ’92, G’01 is a music educator at Daniel Wright Elementary School in Dublin City Schools, where he has been since 2002. Chris has had the privilege of serving as the assistant conductor of the All-Ohio Youth Choir, which performs as the resident choir at the Ohio State Fair. He is equally passionate about church music, serving as the King Avenue United Methodist Church minister of music for nearly 25 years.

Danya Hamad ’19, L’21 stands out as a remarkable young alumna, completing her undergraduate degree from Capital at age 17 before entering Capital University Law School. As she graduated and readied for the Ohio Bar Exam, she petitioned the State Supreme Court to demonstrate her qualifications at age 20. Danya is currently serving as an assistant city prosecutor for the City of Columbus.
