Biography

In his over 30 year career, “Dr. Dan”, as he's known to his students, has directed over 60 productions, produced over 100 Fat Tuesday Debutantes improvisational comedy shows, and performed at numerous national and regional performance festivals and conferences. He is the recipient of the Leslie Irene Coger Award for Distinguished Performance from the National Communication Association. As part of his most recent sabbatical project, he toured a one-person show, “Almost Paradise,” which features a compilation of contemporary poetry that focuses on a variety of figures from popular culture.

He has delivered over 100 presentations and performances at academic conferences. He has published ten journal articles and has two book chapters currently in review. He has served as a guest artist/artist-in-residence and invited speaker at multiple universities. His favorite thing to do is work with student performers and directors to help them discover their strengths and use performance as a way to change the world.
