Biography
Melanie Williamson joins Capital University Law School as Professor of Clinical Studies and Director of the General Litigation Clinic. Prior to joining Capital’s faculty, she worked in the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) as an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel investigating and prosecuting Ohio’s lawyers and judges for ethical violations. Before her time with ODC, Professor Williamson was Managing Partner at Fishel Downey Albrecht & Riepenhoff, LLP in New Albany, Ohio. The focus of her practice was civil litigation with an emphasis on civil rights litigation. She has appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Federal District Courts, State Court of Appeals, trial courts, and administrative agencies. Professor Williamson is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English, summa cum laude. She received her Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School, magna cum laude. In her free time, Professor Williamson enjoys staying active. She is a certified spinning instructor, teaching weekly classes for the past decade. She resides in Hilliard with her husband and their Mini Bernedoodle rescue dog, Clover.
