It won’t take long before Capital feels like home. From the day you set foot on campus, you’ll find yourself in an inclusive, supportive community with students who are as much like you as they are different.
You’ll have choices about where you live — our residence halls offer a variety of accommodations, from traditional rooms, to suite-style living to apartments (typically reserved for upperclassmen) to campus-owned houses that give you the independence of living off campus, but the convenience and amenities of campus living.
It’s more than a residence hall. It’s a living community.
Wherever you wind up, you’ll find your room is comfortable and convenient, equipped with wifi and cable television connections. You’ll be part of a community — not only the Capital community, but within your residence hall. Residential and Commuter Life at Capital works hard to promote the personal, academic, and professional development of our students.

There’s community in commuting, too
Capital can still be home even if you live off campus. Home is about community, relationships and being comfortable in your environment. And that’s what our Commuter Life staff is here to provide. Our office is located on the first floor of the Student Union. We’re here to help you transition to the University, to create a sense of community, to help you engage in student life, and to stay in touch with you so we know how to serve you best. Email commuter@capital.edu with your questions.
Our commuter students are as much a part of the Capital family as anyone, and we have lots of resources and tips to help you make the most of your time on campus.
Jump in!
There’s life — and learning — beyond the classroom. So jump in to Capital life through our clubs and organizations. With more than 100 of them, you’ll find your people and your passion at Capital. Campus activities run the gamut from arts and media clubs, cultural organizations and student government to sports and recreational opportunities. You may decide on Greek life. You may find a place in one of our honor societies, or maybe you’ll devote your energy to a service organization.
But sometimes it will just be about making the most of your down time — hanging out in residence halls or at the fountains, cheering on your favorite Capital team, taking in a late-night movie or recital, or grabbing a snack at the One Main Café.
So champion a worthy cause. Inspire others to do the same. Goof off with your roommate. Whatever you do, get ready to roll up your sleeves. You can’t learn — or lead — from the sidelines.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Let’s be honest, becoming the person you’re meant to be — learning what you need to know to make your mark on the world — takes a lot of energy. You better fuel up. You’ll have a choice of where and how much to eat. You’ll find whatever you like best — all made with fresh, healthy ingredients — whether it’s hot, home-cooked meals, made-from-scratch soups, made-to-order stir fry and pizza, salad, burgers or deli food.
If you don’t have a meal plan, take advantage of our Capital Bucks program. Capital Bucks can be used in all of our dining locations on campus and at select locations on Main Street. Stored on your student ID, Capital Bucks are the most convenient way to purchase meals and snacks without the worry and hassle of carrying cash.
