Spring 2022 Continuing Education Opportunities

“Let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill.” (Proverbs 1:5)

While Trinity students are on fall break this week, the rest of us are busily turning our attention to planning for spring. We have some exciting courses on the schedule for Spring Term 2022, and many of them are great opportunities for continuing education as well as for our degree-seeking students here at Trinity.

Spring Term is January 5 – April 14, 2022.

Hybrid courses (can be taken in person and remotely):

We’ve invested in new technology to improve the experience of students and auditors Zooming into a live classroom in real-time.

On Tuesday afternoons, from 3:30 – 6:15, the Rev. Dr. Kevin Dudley is offering an advanced theology course: HTS 3144, Our Humanity: Creation and New Creation. The course examines “classic and contemporary Christian perspectives on the human, including: creation, creaturehood, the image of God, sin, and evil, will, providence, race, gender, and embodiment … in relation to other core doctrines and to the mission and ministry of the church.”

On Wednesday afternoons, from 3:30 – 6:15, Dr. Dudley is offering HTS 2505, Church and Society in an African American Perspective.

On Thursday afternoons, from 3:30 – 6:15, the Rev. Dr. Brad Binau is offering MN 2511, The Seven Deadly Sins. The course is “an examination of various Christian perspectives on sin, in its original and not so original forms, with special attention given to the classic seven deadly sins: pride, envy, anger, sloth, greed, gluttony and lust.”

On Thursday evenings, from 6:30 – 9:15, the Rev. Dr. Beverly Wallace, who serves on the faculty of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, is teaching HTS 2307, Introduction to Womanist Theology, which centers the perspectives and lived experience of Black women in theological reflection and Biblical interpretation.

The Rev. Dr. Rachel Wrenn is offering BL 3137, Feminist Biblical Interpretation this spring.

On-campus Intensive (February 15-21, 2022)

If you’d like an opportunity for focused learning away from your day-to-day ministry responsibilities, join the Rev. Kevin Vandiver and our interns on Trinity’s campus for MN 3122, Preaching Dialectically. Professor Vandiver is a doctoral student in practical ministry at Princeton Theology Seminary.

All of these full-term courses are 3 credit hours. The intensive course is 2 credit hours. Tuition for those taking a course for credit is $640 per credit hour.
