Your Capital ID Card
About Your Capital ID Card
Every student, faculty and staff needs a Capital ID Card to:
- Access certain buildings
- Check out books from the library
- Use your meal plan
- Use as your COTA bus pass
Treat your Capital ID Card as you would any other identification card, such as a driver's license. You can use your Capital ID badge to utilize Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus service at no cost (View COTA route information). This benefit can be used by students at any time while actively enrolled and is available for local and express routes. Keep your Capital ID Card in a safe place as it contains personal information. Also, do not punch holes, bend or damage it. There is a $15 replacement fee for lost or damaged cards.
Getting Your Capital ID Card
Faculty and staff will be sent to IT during their first days on campus to have a photo taken. For new students, they will have an ID photo taken as part of orientation. All student ID cards will be distributed to students upon their arrival to campus during fall or spring semester. Students may also pick up their ID card at the Residential and Commuter Life Office. Graduate-level students should contact their academic office to obtain their ID card. If you did not attend orientation, you can get your ID photo and card from the Information Technology office. Just bring a photo ID and current class schedule with your student ID number.
After you get your ID, don't forget to visit the Blackmore Library Circulation Desk to activate your barcode, and swing by the Capital Court Dining Room to verify that your meal plan is activated!
