Biography

Professor Armstrong joined the Capital University Law School faculty in 2022. He came to Capital from the Ohio Supreme Court, where he was a Master Commissioner and, before that, an Assistant Reporter in the Office of the Reporter of Decisions. He also has experience as an Ohio Assistant Attorney General in the Constitutional Offices Section, where he represented Ohio’s statewide officeholders and the state itself in constitutional litigation, and as an associate at BakerHostetler, where he primarily practiced employment and general litigation and employment counseling. He began his legal career clerking for the Honorable David A. Katz of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Western Division, in Toledo.Professor Armstrong is a graduate summa cum laude of the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he served as a managing editor of the Ohio State Law Journal.He is also an improvisational performer at the Nest Theatre; a fiction writer; and a co-editor of Tomorrow and Tomorrow, a journal of art and literature. A native of Newark, Ohio, he now lives a few blocks from Capital’s main campus in Bexley. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, cycling, reading, theatre, music, and films.
