Financial Aid Timeline

Steps to Assure Available Financial Aid

  • In your junior or senior year, you should take the SAT or ACT and report your test scores to Capital
  • Apply for admission to Capital University early in your senior year
  • Get a federal Federal Student Aid ID after you apply to Capital so that you can file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid online. Visit to get your FSA ID.
  • Complete the FAFSA electronically beginning December 2023. The FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for federal, state and Capital financial assistance.

The FAFSA is available for electronic submission beginning of December. Be sure to include Capital University's school code (003023) to allow us to receive your FAFSA information.

  • In your junior and senior years, you should talk to your guidance counselor to identify any local scholarships from community groups or other organizations that may be available to you.
  • Notify Capital University of any financial assistance (scholarships, etc.) from outside sources that you anticipate receiving.

  • In the winter, if you are eligible, scholarship and grant information will be sent to accepted students.
  • Within approximately three days of completing the FAFSA online, you should receive a Student Aid Report via e-mail from the U.S. Department of Education confirming that the information is being processed.
  • Review your information that was submitted on the FAFSA. Make any adjustments, corrections or updates as appropriate.
  • Be sure to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, if eligible, to transfer required tax data directly to the FAFSA.
  • You should receive a notice of your Ohio College Opportunity Grant eligibility from the Ohio Department of Higher Ed one month after completing the FAFSA online.
