Student Learning Outcomes Assessment

Capital University is committed to exceptional teaching and learning. Assessment of student learning outcomes is the process used to answer the question, “What are students learning?” and leads to continuous improvement in student learning and the quality of education.

The university mission to transform lives is at the heart of all teaching and learning endeavors. The mission is realized through the Signature Learning Outcomes, academic major and minor program learning outcomes, and co-curricular experiences.

The Outcome Assessment Process

The assessment process is cyclical and dynamic. It starts with defining exactly what we want students to learn (student learning outcomes), and developing and executing plans to measure that learning. We consider those results together with other information and make recommendations to strengthen the curriculum, the instruction, and the assessment process. We start the cycle again and reassess to see if the changes impacted student learning.
